Ducks go up 3-1 on Sharks

The Anaheim Ducks took an improbable 3-1 series lead over the San Jose Sharks with a dominant, 4-0 victory.

It's been a little shocking to see how the No. 8 seed Ducks have dominated the series with the top seed Sharks.

It will be interesting to see if the Sharks have any fight left in them in a huge hole in the series and after a humbling loss.

Game 5 will be played in San Jose, as would Game 7 if they make it that far, so things could still get interesting.

The Ducks have said all along that they don't believe they are a No. 8 seed and consider themselves in the top of the Western Conference.

Ducks pull off surprise win in Game 1

The Anaheim Ducks have reached the playoffs, but it will likely be a short stay.

However, their first playoff game certainly surprised many around the NHL, as the team was able to knock off the San Jose Sharks, the top team in the league this year.

Not only did they pick up a win, but they did so in convincing fashion on the road. Game 2 will see the Sharks come out guns blazing looking for some redemption, so the Ducks better be ready for that.

It was a big day for goalie Jonas Hiller, who made 35 saves and stymied a dangerous Sharks attack. Hiller was outstanding during the regular series and has managed to carry that over into the playoffs.

Whether or not he can maintain that level of play is another question, but hot goaltenders always make for tough outs when it comes to the NHL postseason.
