Ducks pull off surprise win in Game 1

The Anaheim Ducks have reached the playoffs, but it will likely be a short stay.

However, their first playoff game certainly surprised many around the NHL, as the team was able to knock off the San Jose Sharks, the top team in the league this year.

Not only did they pick up a win, but they did so in convincing fashion on the road. Game 2 will see the Sharks come out guns blazing looking for some redemption, so the Ducks better be ready for that.

It was a big day for goalie Jonas Hiller, who made 35 saves and stymied a dangerous Sharks attack. Hiller was outstanding during the regular series and has managed to carry that over into the playoffs.

Whether or not he can maintain that level of play is another question, but hot goaltenders always make for tough outs when it comes to the NHL postseason.
